C-BISD bets on voters with bonds - Brazosport Facts (subscription)(DrainageNews)

In response to voter feedback from a failed bond issue last year, Columbia-Brazoria ISD trustees have placed two separate propositions on the November ballot. If the bond is approved, 10 new classrooms, a new kitchen and dining facility, a new gymnasium and new administrative areas would be added at Wild Peach. The bond also will provide funding for new gutters, downspouts, an underground drainage system including inlets, detention pond and lift station, upgrades to the water treatment plant and fire water storage tanks and many other projects, according to C-BISD's facilities master plan. Joyce Foreman of West Columbia, a member of Citizens for Truth on Taxation, who voted against last year's bond request, thinks the scaled-back plan for Wild Peach was a wise approach by the board. The proposed $3 million for Columbia High School would provide funding to continue improvements to the school and help renovate the dressing rooms in both gymnasiums. The bond also will "fund the renovation of the existing auditorium including seating replacement, lighting improvements, sound improvements, ceiling repairs and general painting," according to information C-BISD sent to parents. read me
