(DrainageNews) Drain system damaged; residents fear flooding - Borneo Bulletin

Parts of the concrete drainage system in Sg Pulaie in Berakas damaged by flash floods are in danger of being pushed into the river by soil erosion. Residents in Kampung Jaya Setia, Berakas voiced their concern and urged authorities to check on the one-kilometre-long concrete drains, from Sg Pulaie bridge to the river close to the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Highway. The concrete drains were built to speed up the flow of the massive volume of water to the sea during a heavy downpour, and prevent flashfloods in this low-lying area. However, certain parts of the concrete drain, said to have been completed a year ago, are broken, bent and in danger of collapsing into the river. read me
