India-Pakistan Eden - Sahara Samay- DrainageNews

As part of an ambitious two-phase plan mooted by the Cricket Association of Bengal, the entire Eden Gardens ground would be dug up to revamp and modernise the drainage system, which drew much flak after the February 8 ODI between India and Sri Lanka was washed out. Giving an outline of the proposed plan after a series of sub-committee meetings, CAB president Prasun Mukherjee said the drainage system was never reviewed after it was put in place in 1979. Work would begin next month after the proposal is formally ratified by the CAB working committee tomorrow and okayed by the defence authorities, the owner of the land on which Eden Gardens is situated. More importantly, the CAB has to get a nod from the defence authorities for renewal of their lease on Eden Gardens, which ended in May. If things went according to plan, the work on the ground would be over in November and the Indo-Pak Test would be played on a re-laid pitch. read me
