Naples City Council OKs revisions to drainage ordinance - Naples Daily News- DrainageNews

The ordinance asks that homeowners take strides to protect their neighbors from flooding or erosion, while enhancing the quality of water. While earlier drafts focused specific guidelines for property owners, the revised law encourages people to use innovative ways to improve the quality, and decrease the quantity, of storm water run-off. When it comes to managing the quantity of the water, residents will be asked to make sure there√Ęs at least a foot of freeboard, the space between the normal water level and the top of a structure that retains water. Water coming off a roof, or any water above the first inch of rain, is pretty clean, Sorey said, and that water is often used to recharge ground water. read me
