The situation in the rain-affected areas of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) has visibly improved after a week-long emergency rainwater drainage operation, claims a DHA press release. It further said that after the joint operation of the DHA and CBC, the level of standing rainwater in the worst affected areas of DHA Phase VI and Phase V Extension, including Khayaban-e-Rahat, Khayaban-e-Eshar, Khayaban-e-Hilal, Saba Ave and adjacent localities, has significantly receded and things are fast returning to normality. The major improvement in drainage of rainwater from inundated areas came as a result of cutting Kh-e-Rehat and Kh-e-Sehar until the beach to create a storm water drain to flush out the accumulated rainwater through pumping action into the sea. Administrator DHA has instructed the concerned staff to initiate an intensive cleanliness and spray operation in the areas cleared of rainwater to prevent any outbreak of epidemic diseases. The drainage of rainwater from the affected DHA localities this year became a challenging and formidable task. The project of making a new modern drainage system with an enhanced capacity would be accorded top most priority by the DHA. read me
